Services

Everything around art — from one person.

Most clients arrive with a simple question: “What do I do with this?” Behind it may be an inherited picture, a collection that grew over decades, or a work someone would like to buy but cannot judge. There is a clear order to it — understand first, then value, then decide.

Sale & placement

Not every work belongs in the same auction, and some belong in none. I look at which path fits: a private sale, consignment to the right house, or a collector who is looking for exactly this. Then I handle the placement.A success fee. If nothing sells, you owe nothing.

Valuation

A market-based value for single works or whole holdings, built from comparable works, recent hammer prices and an honest look at condition. You receive a figure and the reasoning. In writing, with photographs, if you need it. How a valuation is built

Estates & inventory

When a household is being cleared there is rarely time for a long search. I record what is there, separate what has value from what does not, and document it in a form heirs or a probate court can use.Alongside heirs, notaries, executors and tax advisers.

Consignment advice & a second opinion

You already have an estimate from an auction house and you are unsure? From working with the major houses I know how estimates are built, what the buyer’s premium and the consignment terms do to your proceeds, and when another house or another sale is worth it.Often the call that pays for itself.

Provenance & documentation

Provenance is money. I research previous ownership, exhibition and auction history, check catalogues raisonnés and file the papers so they are actually worth something when the work is sold. Also for collections that grew for decades without paperwork. How the research runs

Process

How a collaboration begins.

First conversation

You send photographs and a few lines on provenance. I come back with a first view and say whether a visit is worth making at all.

At the object

Some things can only be judged in the hand: condition, paint layer, hallmarks, the reverse. Across NRW I come to you.

A recommendation

You receive a reasoned view and a concrete proposal — keep, sell, insure, or research further.

Direct purchase

When it should be quick: Böcker Fine Art.

Not everyone needs advice. Sometimes an estate simply has to go, without waiting for the next auction. Through my second practice I buy directly, with a free on-site look and payment when we agree.
